Phil Thomas - Manager CHD (Writtle)

Phil graduated in horticulture at Essex Institute of Agriculture, Writtle in 1965 (now Chelmsford University) and has forty seven years experience in horticulture.

He has worked for local authorities, University of Khartoum, Brackenhurst College, and Thomas & de Groot Ltd carrying out duties such as pot plant nurseryman, and teaching.

Phil set up the garden maintenance and landscaping business in 1993, followed by The Meering Horticultural Company in 1995. Both based at Harby, Newark since 1969.

He manages clients, the day to day running of the business, and acts as a digger operator and workshop manager.

Phil holds a City & Guilds certificate for landscaping, NPTC chainsaw operations, PA1 & PA6A herbicide applications, mole eradication, gassing and trapping.

Donald - Manager of Ground Maintenance Services

Donald has ten years in horticulture and operates the grasscutting service. Large & small areas of grass.

He also carries out scarrifying and lawn care, turfing and seeding. And hedge cutting is a speciality of his.

Jason - Tree Climber and Hard Landscaper

Jason is a Qualified tree climber and chainsaw operative. He is a young, strong and enthusiastic tree worker and will tackle any tree.

He has experience of laying paving and fencing.

Lesley - Lady Gardner

Lesley is studying at Brackenhurst College as mature student. She is an enthusastic, young professional gardener, able to tackle refurbishment and maintenance work.
